Having talked on a past post about the new features Golden Canary Rain Chains will have, it’s time now to discuss what more things can be expected as part of the brand’s plan to add more value to its customers and the environment.

Focusing now on the package, founders Alejandro and Miguel used a single cardboard white box in which the rain chains were placed. They knew from the beginning that these didn’t protect them 100%, but that was what their initial budget allowed when they first launched these products.

Not long after they started selling through Amazon, Miguel found himself replacing some copper rain chains to customers because they didn’t arrive in excellent condition as well as not being able to ship some items that were already in the warehouses because of evident damage. Therefore, founders were able to conclude that the chains were being damaged primarily on two stages: during shipping and while being handled in warehouses; challenge that a better package could solve.

In addition to what was discussed on the past post in which thicker cups for the chain were implemented to make it more resistant, founders now decided it was necessary for them to improve the package too to further protect the items from handling damage, an investment they could now make.

They worked out the situation and came up with a package featuring double cardboard, which will undoubtedly add extra protection; and they also generated an opportunity while making this improvement and decided that they wouldn’t print any design on the package, saving resources and energy in the process. “Golden Canary stands for nature and the environment; so as a small family owned business, it is through these small actions and decisions that we stay true to our brand.”, Miguel said.

This new package can be expected for the end of July together with the new cups and pure copper variation discussed earlier. Next time, we’ll talk about the last change people can expect: a small detail that has a huge impact on how Alejandro and Miguel run the Golden Canary brand.
