Golden Canary Will Enter Canada

The Brand Believes in the Opportunities it Sees on the Marketplace

Having reached the milestone of offering 4 rain chain models selling through Amazon and being able to make them pure copper items, Marrgon has now set its sight in Canada and plans on entering the market with its Golden Canary School Bell Shaped Cups Rain Chain.

Although Canada represents a smaller market because of its population that’s 9 times smaller than the US’s and because of its colder climate, Marrgon’s founders, Alejandro and Miguel, believe it’s still a great opportunity thanks to two factors: the role rain chains might play in winters and the still young Amazon market.

Rain chains, being an item mainly used for directing rainwater from the rooftop to a rain barrel and storing it for future use, are usually demanded during warm and hot months for them to be able to fulfill their purpose; however, many people still buy them as decorative items, which in these occasions, are left hung during the winter because they create a visual spectacle as well when water freezes in a fountain-like manner through the chain. Considering Canada’s colder climate, founders believe this is one of the features that will catch customers’ eyes.

Discussing now the opportunity in the “young” Amazon market in the northern country, people know that Amazon USA is the biggest Marketplace with the greatest variety of products and the most active shoppers. Alejandro and Miguel, after performing some research and comparisons, came to the same conclusion, as in the Canadian market competition is significantly lower; reviews that existing products have are low as well (possibly because a culture of reviewing products purchased online hasn’t yet been developed), and items are priced higher. So they believe, that through their Golden Canary brand, advantages can be taken over this scenario.

Concerning low competition, it’ll be easier for the brand to establish itself and let know customers what they pride itself on offering: premium customer service; as Golden Canary will be able to import its product listing from the US Marketplace and show on the Canadian site the reviews people have left on the American site. This will allow the brand to avoid a complete start from the ground and will provide brand credibility for the Canadian customer.

Taking a look into items priced significantly higher, founders are aware that people usually prefer buying from the US site, as the cost of shipping it or personally getting it is usually lower than the item’s price on the Canadian site. Therefore, Golden Canary will price its rain chains the closest possible to its equivalent in US dollars; as a way of promoting purchases in the Canadian site and penetrating the market in that country.

There’s not a defined date yet as to when the Golden Canary rain chain will be available in Canada, but rough estimates suggest that by mid-August the item will be available in the site. Although Alejandro and Miguel will not be able to catch up with the warm months by this date, they have confidence that the rain chain will make a good start as a present when the holiday season kicks in.
