Update: Because Customers Asked for It

One week ago it was discussed what Golden Canary’s next movement was going to be, and today, I, Miguel Lozano (co-founder of Golden Canary), want to share with you a few changes that came to be on the decision that we had previously made about offering a rain chain extension with chain links and cups sold separately.
Golden Canary Copper Rain Chains are 6 feet long for one main reason: it’s the average length from a gutter to a rain barrel. When first deciding on the characteristics that these items would have, my brother and I came to the conclusion that people who bought the chains were going to be doing it so primarily for placing a rain barrel underneath and harvesting rainwater. So we went on and manufactured them at 6 feet in length.
But after 9 months of operation (I take a moment to thank you for it, because if it weren’t for you, it wouldn’t be possible) I started receiving questions and feedback from people where they asked and wished for extensions so they could complete an 8 or 9-foot-long rain chain. I quickly realized that we were missing offering products for some of you: the people who use it simply to get water from the roof all the way down to the ground (as a beautiful downspout replacement) without placing a rain barrel. My brother and I analyzed the situation and shared 1 week ago what our plan was going to be.
We first thought of offering 3-foot-long extensions, which would include a chain 3 feet long and a set of 3 cups. This way, customers who needed a rain chain longer than 6 feet, could purchase, on Amazon as well, the additional 3 feet of extension and complete an 8-9 feet chain. However, my brother and I gave some thought to the idea during the week and came to the conclusion that it wasn’t such a great idea as we had initially thought, for three main reasons. First, the customer would have to make 2 purchases on Amazon; second, people would have to take time to work with the rain chains and unite them; and third, considering the price for the original rain chain plus the extension, it would be more expensive than offering a single longer 8ft rain chain.
I strive for simplicity, I believe simple works; so after analyzing the case, we decided that offering an 8-foot-long copper rain chain will be more convenient for customers to install and cheaper to purchase. Therefore, creating more value for you.
Regarding last week’s post talking about the 3-foot-long extensions, I want to make it clear that these will no longer come to the market. We’re going to start by launching the 8-foot-long version of the Golden Canary School Bell Shaped Cups Copper Rain Chain and the good news are, that instead of these being available until the end of the year like shared on last week’s post, you’ll be able to enjoy them by mid September.
I want to thank you guys for your support and really hope that this new rain chain we have for you can fill all your needs.
